The Responsibilities of a Communications Manager

Communications managers oversee all communications internally and externally. To elaborate, internal communication means any correspondence within the company. For instance, in the event of a crisis, the company will release a statement, informing the public of their strategy to mitigate said crisis event.

“In the field of Public Relations storytelling is key.”

-Genesis Gonzales

Communications managers work to ensure a brand’s reputation with consistent information and strategy. Defining a company’s image, then communicating that to the public in different ways is essential to working in public relations. Additionally, public relations act as the media liaison to conduct media conferences or press releases.

Genesis states that storytelling is key to working in Public Relations. This is because much of the job consists of communicating information to employees, as well as the public. During any correspondence, you should always be pushing the narrative and brand of the company.
