An intelligent transportation systems analyst reviews, modifies, and analyzes programming to ultimately improve it and build upon it. They review the current technology by examining what is in use on their current project. Such as, traffic signals that are in use on a road. Then, they strategize how to modify and improve the technology to make it more efficient. Essentially, they work to consistently enhance our current transportation systems, such as freeways, the metro, or roads by utilizing advanced technology. For example, they work to improve existing technology such as, artificial intelligence or motion detectors to make transportation more efficient. Ultimately, their goals are to make transportation systems safer, easier to use, and more intuitive.

What Qualifications are Required to be a Transportation Systems Analyst?

The minimum qualifications regarding educations by most hiring manager is a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as engineering. Equally important is experience in a related field. Managers are looking for at least a few years of experience of employment in a field such as, civil or traffic engineering.
