How Much Do You Invest In Yourself?

Share this post on:

The reality is that we invest a minimum of 40 hours a week working to build someone else’s dream. But how much time do we spend investing in ourselves? How many late nights have we spent building our own dreams? When’s the last time you woke up early to do something for your own personal development? If we are being honest, most of us are not doing this often.

We spend years in college and graduate school investing in developing ourselves. Once we graduate, we anticipate that perfect job. When we get it, we dive right in, and that’s it. For some reason, we stop investing in ourselves and direct complete focus into investing in our company’s dream. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with a 9 to 5. We all have bills to pay. But let’s do some math here. There are 168 hours a week. we spend about 40 of those hours working our 9 to 5 job. What are we doing with the remaining 128 hours?

There are a million things we all have to do, but the least you can do is spend an hour a day building your own dream or personal brand. We are constantly investing in others (watching sports, surfing the net, etc) that we tend to forget to invest in ourselves. We all have a purpose and a unique gift that should be cultivated. It’s a huge risk and takes a lot of courage to completely devote ourselves to our individual aspirations. We may not all be willing to devote 100% of your time to it but we can do a little at a time to invest in yourself. You deserve at least on one hour a day that is spent doing something that will enhance you as an individual.

You are responsible for your own personal growth so if you don’t make the commitment to do so you are only limiting yourself. Personal development does not always have immediate results, but like anything else in life the more you invest in it, the more positive change you’ll see.

Time is flying by and once time goes you can’t get it back. You will access numerous opportunities and possibilities by investing in yourself. Don’t let procrastination steal your dream, start today.
