Requirements for Becoming a Senior Product Designer?

In our Corporate Minority interview with senior product designer, Monet Rouse, she states that an advanced degree is not required to work in this field. Rather, being self-taught, or earning certifications from reputable programs is a respected substitute for higher education. However, a bachelor’s or master’s degree can be quite valuable when distinguishing yourself from other candidates when going for senior positions. Most senior product designers gain experience, by beginning their careers in lower positions, such as as assistants or interns. From there, they climb the corporate ladder and advance to higher positions.
